Most facial contouring surgeries involve reducing the deepest layers of facial bones. Even if the contouring is perfectly done, the inner bone becomes smaller, but the surrounding muscles, skin, and fat (soft tissue) remain the same, creating the appearance of excess soft tissue. In cases where both facial contours are prominent and soft tissue sagging is severe, contouring and facelift surgeries are required.
